Maidaan Vs BMCM: Bollywood reportedly suffers a whopping multi-crore loss on a single Friday. Superstars Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar locked horns in cinemas on Eid 2024 and both the the films tanked at the box office, resulting in a huge loss for the Hindi film induustry.
BMCM was released alongside "Maidan" on April 11 clashing with the festival of Eid when it minted Rs 15.65 crore net. The film marks a drop of 5.88 per cent in its collection from the day before, April 22, when the film registered ₹85 lakh net.
The lackluster box office numbers of high-profile action films, such as Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Fighter and Ganapath, have dealt a severe blow to the once hopeful narrative of theatrical resurgence of single-screens following covid-induced closures.
