The spotlight is on local clubs during Independent Venue Week, but pandemic struggles continue as venue owners look for new ways to draw in crowds and support.
The Akron Civic Theatre and National Center for Choreography-Akron have announced their teams each recently received $15,000 from the Ohio Arts Council Arts Resiliency Initiative. All $30,000 will go directly to support Akron artists: choreographer Dominic Moore-Dunson and the creative team and performers of The Civic's Millennial Theatre Project's production of Say It Loud.
A listener from Akron's Kenmore neighborhood wanted to know if that creates a write-off for those businesses, such as a charitable donation or an expense.
