British startup prepares for US launch of anti-snoring device

Founded by a surgeon and a biotech entrepreneur, Signifier targets $100m fundraise in product development push 29 December 2020 • 12:39pm A British biotech company started by an ear, nose and throat surgeon and a biomedical entrepreneur is gearing up to launch its snoring device in the US and hopes to raise a further $100m (£74m) next year as it looks to expand. Signifier Medical Technologies was founded five years ago and is the brainchild of entrepreneur Akhil Tripathi and Professor Anshul Sama. Professor Sama, who is an ENT surgeon in Nottingham and a specialist in snoring and sleep disorders, came up with the idea for the product, called ExciteOSA, after becoming frustrated with existing products to treat snoring-related sleep disorders.
