The Allahabad high court on Friday did not give any immediate relief to the Gyanvapi Masjid committee which had challenged the order of the Varanasi court allowing Hindu prayers in a cellar of the mosque.
Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, representing the Hindu side, pointed out that the district court by means of order dated January 17 had appointed District Magistrate, Varanasi receiver of the property in pursuance of which he took possession of the same on January 24
The Allahabad High Court did not provide relief to the Muslim side in the Gyanvapi mosque case after the Varanasi court allowed Hindu prayers in the mosque s cellar. The court will hear the case on February 6. The order was passed on the day of Varanasi district judge Ajaya Krishna Vishvesha s retirement. The district court had appointed the Varanasi District Magistrate as the receiver of the property on January 17. The appeal filed by the Muslim side also challenges this order.
