Gardaí investigating discovery of guns in White s Cross hoping find could help them solve cold case murders Detectives from Watercourse Road attended the scene at Ballycollie Road at around 5pm on Wednesday.  It s understood the guns were uncovered during digging work and were later discovered by members of the public.  A technical exam was conducted and a search of the area was carried out by members of the Divisional Search Team and the Dog Unit.  The Sun reports investigating Gardaí are keen to see if analysis of the guns can help them solve one of several cold-case murders in Cork.

With the establishment of a commission to examine issues in the Defence Forces, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence Simon Coveney said that the forces are facing a series of significant problems. Speaking on RTÉ’s The Week in Politics, Coveney said that the challenges around recruitment and retention are going to be dealt with “head on”.
