BGM hires Corus exec in creative rejig
Sphere Media-owned Canadian prodco BGM has expanded its creative team by appointing Corus Entertainment executive Andrea Griffith to the newly created position of director of content.

Griffith will report to BGM president Marlo Miazga and will oversee the company’s creative activities. For the past 10 years she was production executive at Corus Entertainment, making series for Food Network Canada and HGTV Canada.
Meanwhile, Miazga has widened her role to president of unscripted for the whole Sphere group and Aidan Denison of the creative team has been appointed as director of development, taking charge of creating and pitching unscripted and kids’ content.

Meanwhile, Miazga has been named president and executive producer of unscripted for Sphere Media, in addition to managing director for Sphere’s Toronto office. In the new role, Miazga will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Toronto office, as well as leading the unscripted and kids and family team.
BGM has been part of the Sphere Media group for around 15 months, after the Montreal-headquartered production group acquired BGM from Kew Media Group, which collapsed in February 2020.
“I watched BGM expertly navigate the Kew situation and come out in a powerful position by joining Sphere Media. It made an impact on me. If they could do that, they pretty much can do anything. I’m so thrilled to be joining this resilient, brilliant, globally-focused team,” said Griffith in a statement.
