Prof Arefin mourns death of ex-BUET VC Shafiullah 152 DHAKA, April 25, 2021 (BSS) – Dhaka University (DU) former Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of former vice-chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Prof AMM Shafiullah. In a message of condolence, he said Prof Shafiullah, a civil engineer and educationist, played an important role in the field of engineering education as the vice-chancellor of BUET and Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST). His death is an irreparable loss to not only in the field of engineering education but also in the country’s entire education system, he said.

Jami, a graduate of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, established OBHIZATRIK Foundation in 2010, to work with underprivileged children. So far, his foundation, with the help of 3,500 volunteers, has supported 1 million people on poverty elimination, education, health and nutrition, and human rights issues. My family and I are over the moon. When I started OBHIZATRIK Foundation, my parents were worried about how it will affect my academic performance, but today, they are really proud of me. I have always dreamt of seeing myself among Forbes honourees.

Bangladeshi students unveil Jute Fiber Bicycle

Bangladeshi students unveil jute fibre bicycle Toggle Desk Toggle Desk Team JuteX, consisting of members from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, has shown off their first prototype for a jute fibre bicycle. Through a Facebook post, the team announced the prototype has passed all the basic mechanical tests from BUET. The team hopes the new technology will help to rejuvenate the Jute Mills of Bangladesh and it`s 25,000 workers. In the same post, the team thanked their sponsor, Maxxis Tyres Bangladesh and their R&D Mentor, Dr Mubarak Ahmed Khan. Earlier Team JuteX won Hult Prize Regional Championship, Vietnam 2020 and are now in the best 30 teams around the world in Hult Prize Global Round.
