JOHOR BARU: Five men were fined RM92,000 at the Sessions Court here after pleading guilty to dumping scheduled solid wastes at unauthorised areas last year.
Tan Chee Siong, 49; Nordin Abd Said, 39; Tey Chiou Hwai, 44; Chong Wei Lun, 30; and Chen Wei Xuan, 26, made the plea after the charge was read to them separately before judge Ahmad Fuad Othman.
The five are working for different companies where Tan and Chen are company directors, Tey a company manager while Chong and Nordin are lorry drivers.
They were fined between RM12,000 to RM20,000 each in default of six months jail.
According to the charge sheet, the accused had disposed of solid waste near housing areas and rivers at different locations namely in Plentong, near Sungai Tiram, Tebrau and Kampung Plentong Baru. The offence was committed between July 14,2020 and October 12,2020.

SEMPORNA, April 15 The Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) has identified the informers who helped the kidnap for ransom (KFR) groups in the waters off eastern Sabah.
ESSCom Commander Datuk Ahmad Fuad Othman also warned of stern action against the informers and said their movements are now being monitored.
“The informers are not only people from Palau’ community, there are also locals and illegal immigrants, stop (being informers) we know where to find them,” he told a press conference here today.

He said good relations with its counterpart in the Philippines enabled the agency to resolve kidnapping cases even though the kidnappers were in the neighbouring country.
