The Caddo Research Station Peanut and Cotton Field Day will take place on Sept. 15 with researchers sharing the latest research projects and discoveries for peanut and cotton crops. Cotton is Oklahoma’s fourth largest export behind oil, gas and wheat.
The combination of hot weather and lack of significant moisture plunged Oklahoma into a "flash drought" that covered the entire state by the end of July.
A lot of Oklahoma corn crops are being repurposed for animal feed due to the drought causing crop failure. Yield is predicted to be lower than usual for most Oklahoma summer crops.
