Court remands man, 26 for allegedly setting house ablaze On Kindly Share This Story: An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Monday  remanded one Jemilu Sanni at the Agodi Correctional Centre, for allegedly  setting a house on fire. The Magistrate, Mrs T. B. Oyekanmi, who did not take the defendant’s plea, ordered his remand, pending the outcome of the case file at the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP). Oyekanmi, thereafter, adjourned the matter until April 28, for mention. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sanni, of undisclosed address, was charged on a count of arson. The Prosecutor, Sgt. Bewaji Ojo, told the court that on Jan.1, at 3.30 a.m., the defendant unlawfully set ablaze the house of one Sola Adeyemi at No. 2, Balogun St., Mokola, Ibadan.

Ibadan correctional centre rejects suspects without coronavirus test result

TODAY February 3, 2021 Warders from the Agodi Correctional Centre in Ibadan, Oyo State, Wednesday told a magistrate that a new directive at the centre forbids the accommodation any inmate who could not show evidence of undergoing COVID-19 test. The warders brought to court three suspects who were accused of assaulting police officers. As a result, the Grade A Customary Court, sitting at Mapo in Ibadan, where they were arraigned ordered that the suspects be remanded in the Mapo police cell for allegedly causing public disorder. The defendants, Oluwaseun Ayola, 33; Yusuf Taofeek, 41 and Adetunji Adeyemo, 45, are facing a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, wilful obstruction, malicious damage and road blocking.
