Jon Hubbard (Ind) AGE Friendly Melksham has been awarded a £2,044 grant from the National Lottery Local Community Fund to review and develop its Friendly Phone Call service. The service enables the charity to keep in touch with people in the Melksham area who are living by themselves, are isolated and lonely or have lost touch with the community during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown. Phillipa Huxtable, Age Friendly coordinator, said: “This is such a great opportunity for us. Since the beginning of the pandemic volunteers have made nearly 1,500 calls to support vulnerable people struggling to get through repeated lockdowns and these difficult times; an incredible gift of their time.”
