(Shutterstock) NEW JERSEY – The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) recently added a gender X option on state driver licenses and non-driver identification cards, the agency said Monday. Gender X, which indicates an unspecified gender, will be offered alongside the existing M (male) and F (female) gender options on licenses and IDs. The option is available not only to non-binary or gender non-conforming New Jersey residents, but also to anyone who prefers that their gender not be specified on their ID.

NJ adds 'X' gender option for driver's licenses, ID cards

NJ adds X gender option for driver s licenses, ID cards Follow Us Kay C. James Question of the Day     By - Associated Press - Monday, April 19, 2021 TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey has added an “X” gender option for driver’s licenses and identification cards for those who do not want to specify male or female, the state’s Motor Vehicle Commission said Monday. The commission said that the option is for residents who identify as nonbinary, as well as for those who do not want to indicate their gender on their ID. “Diversity and inclusion are core values for New Jersey, and for all of us at the MVC. We know this new option will be deeply impactful for many residents, as access to resources and the ability to live and work freely so often hinges on having documentation that correctly reflects your identity,” MVC Chief Administrator Sue Fulton said in a statement.

Here are 11 new laws on police, undocumented immigrants, nursing homes and more taking effect in 2021

Here are 11 new laws on police, undocumented immigrants, nursing homes and more taking effect in 2021 Updated Jan 04, 2021; Facebook Share In just the first two months of 2021, undocumented immigrants will have access to driver’s licenses, nursing homes will have to maintain minimum staffing levels and county freeholders will be no more. That’s because the new year brings new laws. They’ll bring changes to training for law enforcement and corrections officers and release for inmates. No word on legal weed yet, as the year ended without new legislation allowing the sale of marijuana for those 21 and over and decriminalizing the drug.
