Northview and Clay City played entirely different kinds of sectional high school sectional championship softball games on Wednesday night. The Knights rode the strong pitching arm of senior Lauren.

On Saturday, the Northview Knights headed to Tiger Point to compete in the Greencastle Invitational. For the first time this season, they did not have to contend with wind or rain. The Knights faced off against North Putnam, South Vermillion, Southmont, along with the host Greencastle. The course has been under renovation the past couple of years. It is a nine-hole course, but the teams competed with two separate tees.
The Knights took home the win with an invitational team trophy. Northview locked in the victory with a 334 followed by the Tigers with a 352. The senior trio of Benjamin Goshen, Chase Nuckols, and Brevin Cooper also brought home medalist honors. Goshen topped all scorers with a 76 low medalist honors. Nuckols followed suit with an 80 for second place. Cooper tied two other competitors for third place with an 86. Tyler Nettles and Ethan DeHart rounded out the scoring with a 92 and 95.

Northview s Drew Cook averaged 15.3 points in the Knights three games against Terre Haute North, Indian Creek and Plainfield.

Northview sophomore Drew Cook had double-digit scoring nights in all three games the Knights played during the week of Jan. 18 - Jan. 23.
Cook averaged 15.3 points per game during the stretch of games, including a season-high 24-point outing against Indian Creek. Cook recorded a season-high 12 rebounds in the same game, giving him his first double-double of the year.

Northview senior Caleb Swearingen became the seventh player to score 1,000 career points in program history Saturday night at Owen Valley.

Coming into Saturday nights boys high school basketball game against Owen Valley, Northviews Caleb Swearingen sat just 11 points away from the 1,000-point threshold.
The senior scored 19 points on the night to lead the Knights past the Patriots.
And during the third quarter, Swearingen etched his name into the Northview High School history books.
Swearingen curled around a screen set by Jacob Fowler and received a pass at the right elbow from Drew Cook.
