FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Two freshmen women’s tennis players earned three All-SEC honors as announced by the Southeastern Conference office on Thursday. Morgan Cross was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and Indianna Spink earned SEC Freshman of the Year honors and was selected First-Team All-SEC as well.
Spink is currently ranked No. 42 in singles play, good for ninth-best in the SEC and standing as the only freshman in the top 10 in the league. She completed her first regular season with an impressive 15-6 record, 8-3 at home. Spink has played the entirety of the conference season at the number one and two spots for the Razorbacks, accumulating a 6-2 record. Spink has tallied five ranked wins in her rookie campaign so far and has never lost to an unranked opponent dating back to the fall season.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – There is a lot to be said about the Razorbacks’ play against No. 21 Auburn in the second round of the SEC Tournament on Tuesday evening, but lack of effort is not one of them.
A day after defeating 14th seed Mizzou to advance, Arkansas fell to sixth-seeded Auburn 4-1 with the Razorbacks’ sole win coming from senior Tatum Rice on court three.
Rice defeated her opponent in straight sets for the second consecutive night, taking down Auburn’s Yu Chen 6-3, 6-4. Rice and freshman partner Morgan Cross also picked up a 6-1 doubles win over Georgie Axon and Adeline Flach in the number one position.

Auburn’s Joyce Kimeli brought home both a gold and a bronze medal from the National Indoor Championship, helping Auburn to a 10th place finish.
The track and field team had the best week out of all the Auburn program, although the equestrian team beat a ranked team and the soccer team completed a “hat trick” of three wins against Georgia.

Auburn athletics won 11 games and meets over the last week and also took home three gold medals from the SEC Indoor Track Championships.
That number was boosted by softball’s outstanding week, which featured five wins. The baseball team also contributed three, while the men’s and women’s tennis teams each added one. The No. 1 equestrian team remains undefeated to add another.
Among the sports that don’t just count wins and losses, gymnastics posted a season-high road score; the men’s swimming team saw a number of lifetime bests at the SEC Championship; and the track team won numerous medals.
