Rod D. Martin, founder and CEO of The Martin Organization and an officer of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Executive Committee, has come under fire for criticizing Arizona Pastor Josh King for praising his wife’s ministry online.
King, who leads the Second Baptist Church in Conway, Arkansas, and his wife, Bible teacher Jacki C King, are both graduates of Criswell College, a Christian liberal arts college and divinity school in Dallas, Texas. Both are also students at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary led by President Adam W. Greenway.

Despite his criticism of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Council of Seminary Presidents’ statement on critical race theory, outspoken SBC Pastor Dwight McKissic was blessed by one of the council s six members after water damaged his Texas home amid wild winter weather this week.
The help came in the wake of McKissic s recent decision to end his longtime relationship with the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention after leaders adopted a “strongly worded, anti-CRT policy that denounces all aspects of critical race theory.” The disagreement also prompted McKissic to declare that he was even willing to cut ties with the SBC as well if the denomination s leaders rescind Resolution 9 on critical race theory that messengers passed in 2019.

Outspoken African American Southern Baptist Convention Pastor Dwight McKissic, who threatened to leave the SBC over a dispute about critical race theory, recently received a letter that disparaged blacks and urged the convention to “bid them goodbye and good riddance!”
The letter in question was authored by John V. Rutledge, an author who is no longer part of the SBC. The controversial document was sent last Monday and addressed to McKissic, who pastors Cornerstone Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas.
When leaders in the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention rebuked him for supporting missionaries praying and praising in tongues in 2006, prominent Southern Baptist Convention Pastor Dwight McKissic said he almost quit.
