“We need to scale up the life-saving response now to meet growing humanitarian needs in many parts of the country. We’ve had increasing vulnerability, more displacement, that we need to address. And secondly, we must act to prevent - credible solutions, sustainable solutions – to prevent this from becoming a protracted crisis with no end point in sight.”
Michael Bloomberg had been reappointed as the Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Climate Ambition and Solutions.
The Secretary-General, along with COP26 UK President Alok Sharma, will brief the Member States on the road to Glasgow.

Ramesh Rajasingham, Acting Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator, has said that at least four Afghans out of ten suffer from hunger each day.
The UN has called on international donors to provide $1.3 billion for humanitarian relief to Afghans in need.
The Pentagon on Wednesday reiterated that any withdrawal from Afghanistan will be conditions-based.
Pentagon’s spokesman John Kirby in a question about a possible increase in the number of US forces in Afghanistan said that the US Defense Secretary is assessing all options, but said that the best solution to the conflict in Afghanistan is a political settlement of the conflict.
