a much better place than they were three or four months ago but still in a bad place. the idea that they will somehow or another going to reelect nancy pelosi as speaker of the house and maintain control of the house and run away with the senate is, i think, farfetched and a little premature. dana: are you in a great state today? i m in the great state that you and i have a special affinity for that spent part of our childhood, colorado. dana: thanks for the insight. usual life what he says about the fetterman polling. initially right after the primary it was grueling for the republicans between mccormick, oz and bar net. then there were some polls that showed oz down 19 points. now as karl said they are just about within the margin of error. it has closed. once we get to september things start to focus. trace: karl talked about fetterman s speech problems and the campaign is having trouble
health against him? that we haven t seen yet. dr. oz is a doctor. i think he is a specialist in cardiology, and so it will be interesting to see how they go there. just to give people a little background, fetterman is recovering from a stroke. he had a heart procedure done right after that stroke, and put out a letter from his doctor, who apparently he last saw prior to this week five years ago. and the doctor said, i told this guy to take his medicine and change his lifestyle and he didn t do it. and now here we are. so fetor inman in his statement says, like so many others and men in particular, i avoided going to the doctor, even though i knew i didn t feel well. as a result i almost died. i want to encourage others not to make the same mistake. some republicans are saying this guy lied about his health condition. the fetterman campaign is saying i really like all of you guys,
who also haven t been to the doctor in five years. look, you don t need meet democrats in town that aren t worried about fetterman. he had a serious health issue, they weren t entirely honest, and that s a problem for any campaign. in all the reports that s come out, the most interesting thing is that some of the campaign taf didn t know he had the procedure when he had it. if you re not telling your campaign you re going in for mayor cardiac surgery, that suggests that the campaign and the candidate aren t on the same page and that can be a challenge when you get into a tight election where there will be a lot of close calls and snap decisions. you want everyone on that same page, and that s a problem. how does oz play this? it will be interesting, as mel was saying, if they try to make an issue of it at all.
in the 2022 midterm season, jake. now, to the late breaking news on the frontrunner, lieutenant governor john fetterman getting a pacemaker today as voting is under way. jessica, what can you tell us about fetterman s condition this hour? reporter: well we know that he is just out of that procedure, jake, he s said to be headed toward a full recovery, that it went very well. he actually tweeted just recently, said i just got out of a procedure to implant a pacemaker with a defibrilator in my heart, now back to resting and recovering. all this coming as earlier today he cast his ballot from his hospital room using an emergency absentee ballot, that s how he voted for himself, not what we expected today. he will be watching returns from that hospital in lancaster at lancaster general hospital about four hours from where i m standing now in pittsburgh where we are expecting his wife
