ASUU LAUTECH condemns Makinde s step aside order on VC

Share The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), has condemned the ‘Step Aside’ order given to the vice-chancellor of the institution by the Oyo State government. The union in a release jointly signed by its Chairperson, Dr Biodun Olaniran and Secretary, Dr Toyin Abegunrin, after its congress, on Monday, said the state government did not follow due process in its action. Governor Seyi Makinde had on Friday ordered LAUTECH Vice-Chancellor, Professor Michael Ologunde, to step aside until further notice. The governor’s decision was conveyed in a letter by Olasunkanmi Olaleye, the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology.

ASUU faults Makinde on sack of LAUTECH Vice Chancellor On By Ola Ajayi ACADEMIC Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has faulted Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde on the sack of the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Michael Ologunde. The sack, according to the union, was not in tandem with due process. Makinde, who is the visitor to the university had on Friday had directed Ologunde to step down as the VC of the institution. The academic union justified its stance saying that the governor could only recommend to the Governing Council which is empowered to recruit, discipline and sack a VC and other principal officers.

LAUTECH ASUU dissociates self from purported resumption

Share Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ladoke Akintola University Chapter on Wednesday dissociated itself from a purported resumption calendar released by the institution’s registrar, Mr Kayode Ogunleye, maintaining that the union members are still on an indefinite strike until federal government meets her demands. In a release signed by LAUTECH ASUU Chairman, Dr Biodun Olaniran, the union stated that the academic staffs of the institution were solidly behind and involved in the ongoing nationwide ASUU strike and will not betray the struggle to get a better public varsity and welfare system for her members. He advised parents not to allow their wards waste scarce resources in coming to school which is yet to resume as the academic staffs are still on strike in compliance with the national struggle of ASUU.
