CM announces special uplift package for Narowal

LAHORE:Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Monday announced a special development package of 5.12 billion rupees during his visit to Narowal.
According to a handout issued here, the chief minister laid the foundation stone of three projects under the second phase of the ‘Naya Pakistan Manzalain Asan’ Programme. Talking to the media, the chief minister said the expansion of three roads of 17 kilo metres length had been started with an amount of Rs 230 million.
Similarly, 5.12 billion rupees would be spent on 39 different projects, adding that supply and drainage of water, roads and other projects would be completed in Zafarwal and Shakargarh with Rs 840 million. He said that 1.70 billion rupees would be spent on the construction of 33-kilometres long Narowal-Zafarwal road and Syed Chiragh Shah Bypass. LAHORE: Around a week after the three-judge Supreme Court bench upheld the Election Commission of Pakistan verdict for re-polling in the entire NA-75 constituency of Daska, the posting of an officer with “tainted record” as Sialkot district police head has raised many eyebrows.
The appointment of Mr Abdul Ghaffar Qaisrani as new district police officer (DPO) of Sialkot has been questioned in the backdrop of his performance as police head of the same district and of Kasur in the past. The officer was reportedly removed each time over complaints of “mismanagement”, once on the order of the CM and then on the direction of PM Khan.

Recently, the provincial metropolis was witness to a strange kind of heist, in which a German and a Swiss national were robbed of bitcoin, a digital currency. The police claimed to have nabbed two culprits, including Rana Irfan Mehmood, the prime accused, but according to sources the actual circumstances and factors leading to the incident are not yet known. Also, it is said that the criminals are still at large and not a penny has been recovered. All of which puts a huge question mark on the performance of the investigation wing of the Lahore police.
