A Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighter died and another was injured after an off-duty colleague opened fire at a station in Agua Ducle on Tuesday. Agua Ducle is located about 30 miles north of Los Angeles in the Santa Clarita Valley. Speaking during a news conference, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lt. Brandon Dean said the suspected gunman returned to his home, where he barricaded himself in and set the structure ablaze. Authorities found the suspect, whose name wasn't released, dead from a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound in the backyard. Fire Chief Daryl Osby said a 44-year-old firefighter died from his injuries in the shooting and a 54-year-old fire captain was in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. Tiger Woods didn t remember anything about his car wreck on Feb. 23 and believed he was in the state of Florida when a sheriff s deputy interviewed him at a Los Angeles-area hospital after the crash.
Those were among the new details included in 22 pages of a traffic collision report and supplemental reports released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff s Department on Friday.
A brush fire quickly spread near Towsley Canyon on Tuesday afternoon, with initial reports indicating it had grown by 50 acres within a half-hour.
The call was received by the first responders at 1:27 p.m. on the 24000 block of The Old Road.
“We received a report of flames and smoke coming from an area near Towsley Canyon Park,” said Leslie Lua, a spokeswoman for the Fire Department, at 1:35 p.m.
At 2 p.m., officials on the scene gave their initial report that the fire was 50 acres in size, in medium-to-heavy brush, and was being spread by 30 mph northeast winds, according to Chris Thomas, a spokesman for the Fire Department.
