The Karnataka High Court has suggested amending provisions of the law relating to the pecuniary jurisdiction of the High Court and the District Court to hear the first appeals filed under Section 96.

In its latest disaster bulletin, the OCD said the figure includes 20 confirmed deaths - nine from Zamboanga Peninsula, seven from Eastern Visayas, two from Northern Mindanao, and one each from Mimaropa and Davao Region. Still undergoing validation are 20 more fatalities - 10 from Bicol, six from Northern Mindanao, three from Zamboanga Peninsula, and one from Soccsksargen. The amount of damage to agriculture and infrastructure was estimated at PHP885.16 million and PHP520.05 million, respectively, while the number of damaged houses was placed at 1,858. A total of 481,012 families or 1,964,979 persons were affected by the effects of bad weather. (PNA) }
