MANILA - The Department of Health (DOH) logged another record-high 39,004 daily coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections on Saturday but also tallied 23,613 new recoveries. Active cases rose to 280,813 while total recoveriesjumped to 2,834,708, or 89.5 percent of the 3,092,409 infections recorded since the pandemic started in March 2020. Among the active cases, 267,185 are mild, 2,925 are moderate, 8,928 are asymptomatic, 1,472 are severe, and 303 are critical. "Of the 39,004 reported cases today, 38,271 (98 percent) occurred within the recent 14 days - Jan. 2, 2021 to Jan. 15, 2022," the DOH said. The regions with the most cases in the past two weeks were the National Capital Region (NCR) with 18,142 or 47 percent of new infections; Calabarzon, 9,172 or 24 percent; and Central Luzon, 3,325 or 9 percent.
