shopping. have shoppers been spending a as much as retailers are hoping for? what are the numbers like so far? i think retailers will be disappointed this year. give you an illustration. black friday was incredible but the one thing you didn t realize is about 48.9% of consumers plan to shop but three fourths of them plan to go there only for the earlybird specials and our numbers show after the stores got to be 9:30:10 in the morning and the stores opened up at 10:00 now back to regular hours so were a lot of hours. people like the gap which had 50% off, a really good day throughout but the earlybird specials drove a lot of consumers in and let s not kid ourselves. 68% of people who shopped on black friday said they were able to get the first or second choice for the earlybird special so they hit the stores early but didn t spend much after that. kimberly: you had different retailers offering, you know, deals to people that came
by 7,576 votes. every vote counts, look at how close it is in illinois right now. the democrats slightly ahead and in florida, it s very close as well. look at this, 89% of the vote has been counted. rick scott, the republican, has 48.9%. alex sink, the democrat, she has 47.7%. scott is ahead by 57,342 votes, 11% of the votes still need to be counted. very, very close. let me go to anderson. anderson, there could be some recounts, they re going to have to wait for some absentee ballots, military ballots it looks like it s close in nease races and important races. and a little later while we ll speak to legal analyst jeffrey toobin about the rules on the recounts did that s what we saw in illinois and florida. before we do that, though, ted rowlands nuclear weapon california where we ve been
vote on this is anything different than a yes on the healthcare vote. there does have to be accountability. there has to be ctability for the insurance companies canceling people s policies, there has to be accountability for insurance companies refusing to cover people. this is all about the insurance industry s reluctance to have any accountability on itself, and that s why they are opposing this bill so strongly. that s the issue before the congress right now. megyn: when we talked earlier in this program about the polls and how the polls for the most part have shown that most americans are actually against this bill as it s now styled in congress. when you break it down piece by piece, they peel differently. they feel differently. the polls show 48.9% are against. just 41.3% are for it.
