His historic removal was led by fellow republican matt gaetz. Matt gaetz was furious because Kevin Mccarthy was working with democrats. Gaetz had to work with democrats to oust the house speaker, so there is that. There was a dramatic vote. Final vote total was 216210, with majority voting to vacate the chair of the house speaker.
