impeach president biden and members of his cabinet. all of this is ringing alarm bells for moderate republicans. well, the few who still exist. new reporting from the washington post reads quote, the house is focused on the far-right demands over the past month has irritated republicans who represent string districts or are worried that extreme legislative agenda will push voters away and hand the house majority of democrats in 2024. joining me now, msnbc political analyst fernand amani. she s host of the strangest days podcast. and messy political contributor and atlanta journal constitutional political reporter craig bluestein. harvard law professor keith charles, presley, host of the make it make sense a digital show. she s also the former senior assistant attorney general for the d.c. office of the attorney general. welcome to all of you. he, i want to start with you and let s start with the
suburban voters, you know, younger voters, and i just think that we ve got to have a candidate that can appeal to those, and i think that a lot of the drama and the chaos that seems to be happening on an ongoing basis makes it harder to win those types of voters. i think the long-term effect, and again, this is where those of us who care about these down ballot races and want to get the majority back in the senate, as you try and recruit candidates, you know, they re going to be looking at that political environment and saying am i going to be running, you know, against the tide or with the tide. and there s a big difference based on who you nominate. that s the number two senate republican, south dakota s john thune, voicing concerns yesterday about trump s losing streak as well as his impact on down ballot races heading into 2024. joining us now, founder of the conservative web site the bulwark, our friend, charlie
allies, and it s adherence to the rule of law at home. mr. trump s provocations were hardly shocking. his time in office was often defined by a the rules don t apply to me approach to governance and a lack of interest in upholding the post-world war ii national security order. and at 76, he is not bound to change much. in other words, trump is still trump. and we will always be trump. but if we elected, 2020 trump is just the beginning, according to a former trump cabinet official. quote, from my perspective, there was an evolution of donald trump over his four years, with 2020, i think, being the most dramatic example of him, the real him, said mark esper, who served as trump s defense secretary. and i suspect that would be the starting point if he were to win office in 2024. joining us now is msnbc contributor and staff writer for the atlantic, mark leibovich. mark, it s great to see you this evening, even i have to introduce you on the heels for a nightmare scenario for a lot of peo
