things are entitled to due process. we have to find the balance. it is the same here. the words gun and control. when you put them in the same sentence, that is the third rail of our political system. people retreat to their i positions. i don t think we have a view of nothing nothing can be done. i don t think we should have the knee jerk reaction. there is a number of things we can do. i think people are afraid to do them. look, since 700 ad, we had gun powder. in the mid 14th century, guns were invested. in 1892, the first automatic weapon was developed. the second amendment in 1791. the founding fathers did it for the right reasons. we found it on a revolution. break-away from oppressive government. for us not to discuss this is ludicrous.
from getting a gun if they are perceived as a threat. do you feel like that sort of law needs to be in play nationwide, do you feel ligs there are limitations for law enforcement in that way and that would be the sort of thing that could help? absolutely. and rene to your point, we cannot look at this in a vacuum. and i ve been on record that i believe we need to take a look at pieces of the second amendment. it has its utility, but it has been around since 1791. and we need to adjust things. the same thing with our hipaa and our privacy requirements and stipulations that make it very difficult for people that have mental health conditions to have that information shared with law enforcement. i understand the respect and the need for privacy. i understand the counter argument that says if you had this shared with authorities, people won t come forward. we have to find the sweet spot
officials say that at times like this, but they don t listen. you know, our congress is so dysfunctional they can t get anything done. i mean what happened with this whole issue around bump-stocks after las vegas there was a lot of talk and nothing happened. a lot of talk and nothing happened. i guarantee nothing is going to happen now. there s no reason to believe anything will be different tomorrow than it is right now because they are so dysfunctional that they can t do basic stuff. you can be on the no-fly list and go out and buy a gun. that is absolutely insane yet they can t even get that done. so i have zero faith that things are going to change. and when the second amendment came on line in 1791, a trained infantryman in the revolutionary war, the civil war could load, i am and fire three musket balls in a minute. in one minute on semi-automatic fire that gunman could fire 45, 50 rounds at people. it is a different paradigm. i want to thank everybody. coming up, what
