I think we can all agree, 2020 has not been an all-round success. Indeed, as we approach a New Year’s Eve, hundreds of millions of people will very likely be praying for humanity to be given another chance, to get our life back. Atheists and agnostics alike will be hoping that by whatever mechanism, 2021 might be a bit less bleak.
It may be arguable whether Covid was humanity’s fault or just nature doing what it does, but the rest of the year’s horrors – increasing authoritarianism, environmental destruction, fanaticism, racism, inequality, ignorance, violence and more – were very much humankind’s work.
