ASHBURN Washington Football Team players had been having discussions and group text chats about whether to attend the voluntary practices that began Tuesday. After all, other NFL players were opting out, and the union was urging everyone to skip.
That advice didn’t get much traction in Washington.
“It was a no-brainer,” cornerback William Jackson III said. “We knew we were coming.”

10) Dak Prescott, Cowboys
Prescott is probably the most valuable player in the NFC East, seeing as he is the only quarterback definitively worth having as a starter. But he makes the list because the Cowboys put off his contract extension for years, ultimately giving Prescott’s side all the leverage in the world to work out an incredibly player-friendly deal.
On the surface, Prescott’s contract doesn’t seem
that bad. It’s four years, $160 million with $126 million in guarantees, including a $66 million signing bonus. He will reportedly receive $75 million the first year of the deal.

As Ian Rapoport of NFL Network noted, McCain had recently visited the team.
McCain played his first six NFL seasons with the Miami Dolphins, who released the team captain on May 6.
The ex-Memphis Tiger, who has played cornerback and safety during his Dolphin tenure, amassed 46 tackles, five pass breakups and an interception in 2020.
In 2020, the 28-year-old played in all 16 games, starting 15 for a team that allowed the sixth-fewest points per game in the NFL.
