Tech, Apollo High Schools to have in-person prom, graduations

ST. CLOUD Potential prom-goers at St. Cloud Technical High School and Apollo High School can start to plan their outfits  the district is planning in-person events for prom and graduation. Prom events across the state were canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and graduates could not gather in-person. This year, St. Cloud Area School District students could get to celebrate the end of the semester with their classmates, if the pandemic doesn t worsen by May. We re very excited, said Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education Laurie Putnam. We re partnering with our students and our high schools to organize something that meets their hopes and dreams, and also fits within guidelines from the state.

Assistant Superintendent Baisch Retiring from St Cloud District

Assistant Superintendent Baisch Retiring from St. Cloud District The district announced the retirement of Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education Marsha Baisch on Wednesday. Baisch has been with the St. Cloud district since 2014 in the assistant superintendent position. She started her career as a kindergarten teacher before moving on to other roles including serving as a principal in Hopkins and Robbinsdale, an administrator in Eden Prairie, and an assistant superintendent in St. Paul. Baisch says she is looking forward to spending more time with her grandchildren. St. Cloud Area School District The district also announced that Oak Hill Principal Mike Rivard will be taking over the position from Baisch. He has been with the district since 1995 in a variety of roles including social worker, special education supervisor, assistant principal, and principal.

District 742 Using Remaining Bond Funds for Various Projects ST. CLOUD  The St. Cloud Area School District will be using up some remaining funds to address high-priority projects over the next few years. The board approved the funding for a number of projects for which there is no other funding source at Wednesday s meeting. On the list are secure entrances at Discovery, Oak Hill, Talahi, and Clearview elementary schools, alarm door access systems, an additional music space at Apollo High School, flexible furniture for Apollo and Tech, the walking path at Discovery, landscaping, digital signage, and the redesign of the parking lots and drop-off and pick-up traffic flow at South Junior High.
