BEMIDJI A full Bemidji City Council will take on several items for discussion Monday, as soon as the newest member of the governing body is sworn in.
In the special election, Jourdain earned 524 votes while Larson received 410. Jourdain, an employment specialist with the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, had advanced with Larson from a special election in November, where they finished ahead of two other candidates.
Joined by Jourdain, Bemidji Council takes action on housing development

BEMIDJI The Bemidji City Council is once again full with seven members, thanks to the addition of Daniel Jourdain.
On Monday, the 35-year-old employment specialist with the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe took the oath of office to become the at-large Council member, representing each of the city s five wards. The swearing-in ceremony comes after Jourdain defeated Dave Larson in a February special election.
Northern Minnesota Addiction Wellness Center provides inpatient treatment, addiction recovery resources

Special tax district for housing development on tonight s Bemidji City Council agenda
The Bemidji City Council is scheduled to review a tax increment financing district which would support a new housing development.

BEMIDJI A new housing development still in the planning phases is the main topic tonight for the Bemidji City Council.
During its work session, the council is scheduled to discuss Mountain View Meadows, a development proposed by local resident Mitch Rautio through his company Puddle Duck Properties. Ruatio is looking to develop about 48 acres of land, bordered by Rako Street Southwest, Lakeview Drive, 18th Street and Washington Avenue.

BEMIDJI Ira John Batchelder was 78 years old when he dug his oar into the water to help the Wooly Irishmen claim the first-ever Lake Bemidji Dragon Boat Festival championship. In his 80s, he ran marathons, raced canoes and rode in bicycle tours.
