Aylmer police have charged the Church of God with breaching Ontario’s emergency COVID-19 rules, officials with the church say.
Controversial pastor Henry Hildebrandt livestreamed to Facebook from his home and church Wednesday evening, showing two Aylmer police officers trying to hand over a summons, the order for the Church of God to appear in provincial offences court next month.

Police allege the Church of God violated the Reopening Ontario Act, the provincial rules governing the COVID-19 lockdown, by playing host to a public event that exceeded the permitted number of people. At the Dec. 27 worship service, “a large number of people” were outside their vehicles and sitting together, police say.
