Four music groups are inviting technology companies to help them reach new audiences, writes JULENA DRUMI Technology, already permeating much of our lives, is now being called upon to help four music organisations play a different tune. With the help of £80,000 of government arts funding, each one is seeking the support of tech-savvy entrepreneurs who can help them reach new audiences. Businesses that can provide the innovative, data-driven solutions the groups are looking for will each receive up to £20,000. Scottish Opera, the Scottish Ensemble orchestra, music venue Pianodrome and charity Drake Music Scotland all hope to benefit from the University of Edinburgh-led initiative.

Youth programming club Prewired has secured funding from Creative Informatics to help the long-running Edinburgh group move online. Prewired secures funding from Creative Informatics to take one of Scotland’s longest-running coding clubs for young people online 20th January 2021 Prewired also supported by CodeBase, Deliveroo and Skyscanner Prewired has taught coding and digital skills to over 350 under-19s since being founded in 2013 in partnership with University of Edinburgh’s School of Informatics  Scottish charity Prewired was set up in response to “educational gap” in provision of digital skills in Scotland  Computer programming sessions had taken place at CodeBase in Edinburgh pre-pandemic Regina Vereker, Resident Entrepreneur at Prewired, says: “We will be using funding to develop online resources for young people to learn coding, design and other digital skills, while building a digital community so they can engage with each other and share knowledge”
