BOLINGBROOK, IL A whirlwind few weeks continued for former Bolingbrook basketball star Joseph Yesufu, when his dunk for Drake against Wichita State in the NCAA Tournament was featured in the annual One Shining Moment highlights montage after Monday s NCAA Tournament championship game on CBS.
The dunk took place in Drake s 53-52 win over Wichita State in the NCAA Tournament First Four matchup on March 18 and involved the 6-foot Yesufu slamming the ball over Shockers 6-7 Clarence Jackson in the first half of the game.
The excuse was there if he chose to use it. But William & Mary coach
Dane Fischer knows that his wasn’t the first team in the Colonial Athletic Association, or the nation for that matter, that was forced to take a multi-week pause for COVID-19 reasons.
Playing for the first time since Jan. 31, the Tribe came out flat in a 75-54 home loss to Elon Saturday afternoon. The Phoenix hit eight of its first 10 shots from the 3-point arc and led by double digits for the final 34½ minutes.
Just before its pause, W&M had its best weekend of the season with a two-game sweep at Towson. After the layoff and missing starting forward
Hunter McIntosh had 20 points as Elon snapped its eight-game losing streak, topping College of Charleston 66-55 on Sunday. Simon Wright had 15 points for Elon (4-8, 1-7 Colonial Athletic Association). Ikenna Ndugba added 12 points.
