It was the last thing Al Braccolino, 90, of Crown Point, told one of his daughters as paramedics loaded him into an ambulance Nov. 16. COVID-19 forced him into the final fight of his life.
Ten days later, the chair Al usually occupied at the Thanksgiving table would sit empty. The husband to his wife of 70 years, father of three and grandfather of six died on the holiday.
Alâs daughter, Sandra Noe, was herself suffering from COVID-19, which she contracted while caring for her sick parents, when the virus forced Alâs hospitalization.

Lawyer is charged with laundering cash for undercover agent
Prominent Dallas lawyer Rayshun “Ray” Jackson of the Jackson Law Firm has been charged with laundering money acquired from an undercover agent who said the money came from drug trafficking. Jackson allegedly suggested setting up a shell corporation and a cash business like a coin laundry or car wash that would make it difficult to track proceeds, prosecutors alleged. He allegedly negotiated a 4% fee, plus a bonus. Jackson, a criminal defense lawyer, was an assistant secretary on the Dallas Area Rapid Transit board. Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett and her husband, Jesse Barrett, have closed a sale on their South Bend, Indiana, home as their family prepares to make their move to Washington, D.C.
Pat McCullough, the Barretts broker with Irish Realty, said the couple accepted an offer by a Notre Dame professor for the property within two weeks of its listing. The home was listed for $899,900. I’m sure their name certainly did not hurt [the property’s appeal], but the market is very strong,” McCullough said, according to a
South Bend Tribune report on Monday.
The house is described as a six-bed, five-bath home with a fireplace in the living room, built-in bookcases, a finished lower level, a refinished kitchen, and hardwood floors throughout the complex. It also features a fenced backyard, large patio, covered deck, and a two-car garage.
