“Whatever is destroyed, damaged, or missing can be replaced later. Stay indoors and keep informed about the storm by listening to public authorities via a portable radio or on social media,” Alleyne cautioned.

The Democratic Labour Party (DLP) could “disintegrate into oblivion” amid the resignation of several high-profile members, unless DLP leader Verla DePeiza steps down, a former parliamentarian Hamilton Lashley suggested Tuesday.
With at least five members quitting the party so far this year, the general membership should now be asking DePeiza to give up the presidency, particularly since the next general elections could be called any day now, he suggested. The next poll is constitutionally due in 2023.
He told
Barbados TODAY: “Being what it is, there is an urgent need within the Democratic Labour Party for consultation, for mitigation, to really look at the situation as it is. Treasurer Henderson Williams has tendered his resignation from the Verla DePeiza-led party.
In a brief letter of resignation, Williams said: “It is with much regret that I am forced to submit this letter of resignation as Treasurer and ultimately a member of the Democratic Labour Party with immediate effect.”
Williams, a credit unionist, stood for Parliament on a DLP ticket in the 2018 general election in the City of Bridgetown.
His departure comes on the heels of Simon Alleyne back in January, which followed that of former general Secretary George Pilgrim, George Connelly and Rodney Grant.
