ANN ARBOR, Mich., May 20, 2021 /PRNewswire/ May Mobility, a leader in autonomous vehicle (AV) technology and shuttle operations, announced today that it is testing a Toyota Sienna equipped with the next generation of its autonomous driving kit (ADK) and will work with Toyota to add the vehicle to public shuttle fleets in 2022.
The automated vehicle based on the Sienna features Toyota s highly adaptable Vehicle Control Interface (VCI), allowing for seamless technology integration and robust operation of key vehicle control systems, such as steering, brakes, and acceleration.

This collaboration has two primary goals:
To develop and test driverless-capable vehicles equipped with the Aurora Driver, starting with the Toyota Sienna. By the end of 2021, we expect to have designed, built, and begun testing an initial fleet of these Siennas near our areas of development, including the Aurora Test Site Network.
To lay the groundwork for the mass-production, launch, and support of these vehicles with Toyota on ride-hailing networks, including Uber’s, over the next few years.
As part of this long-term effort, Aurora will be exploring mass production of key autonomous driving components with Denso and a comprehensive services solution with Toyota for when these vehicles are deployed at scale, including financing, insurance, maintenance, and more.

Aurora Innovation Inc., a Silicon Valley-based autonomous-driving startup with at least a $10 billion valuation, has agreed to a long-term strategic partnership with Toyota and its supplier Denso Corp. that aims to mass produce autonomous vehicles and launch them on ride-hailing networks, including Uberâs, over the next few years.
