Dukes County is working in conjunction with Cape and Island government and health officials to launch a vaccination campaign that will target the hundreds of thousands of seasonal visitors soon to arrive in our resort communities.
At a Dukes County Commission meeting Wednesday, commission chair Christine Todd said the campaign â which will include broadcast advertisements, posters, outreach to local businesses, and various incentives for getting vaccinated â will focus largely on the 20- to 30-year-old age group that comprises the majority of the Islandâs seasonal workforce (although the messaging will reach a broad swath of the sea

O.B. approves lighthouse lead testing
Approval gives Coast Guard access to small portions of town-owned land where contamination may have spread.
Oak Bluffs approved the Coast Guard to conduct lead testing and remediation on town owned land adjacent to East Chop Lighthouse.
The Oak Bluffs select board approved lead testing to be conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard on town land adjacent to the East Chop Lighthouse where it believes contamination has spread.
The approval gives the Coast Guard access to several small areas outside the 60- by 60-foot parcel of land it owns surrounding the lighthouse.

The Island rental and business communities are gearing up for what is anticipated to be a very busy Summer.
Last April, prospective renters were wondering whether their Vineyard vacations were still a go, as Massachusetts began to shut down restaurants, lodging, and other aspects of the service and hospitality industry.
At that point, the uncertainty created by pandemic restrictions was in full force. After state guidance became more solidified, many folks traveled to the Island to escape their city domiciles some bought houses here, and others took on short- or long-term rentals.
