Anti-polio campaign planned for June

The anti-polio drive by Lodhran administration will commence on June 7 and continue till June 11. During the five-day campaign, as many as 321,564 children under the age of five will be vaccinated against the poliovirus.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Deputy Commissioner Imran Qureshi said that children would be inoculated for the first three days of anti-polio campaign while after two days, the children who had not been vaccinated against polio will be searched and vaccinated.
This decision was taken in a meeting held to review the arrangements for the special national anti-polio campaign.

Gunmen targeted Shia Muslims, as suicide bomber struck outside political rally.
At least 11 people were killed and 30 injured in a series of attacks in Quetta on Thursday, including a suicide bombing at a rally by a leading religious political party.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUIF) party was leaving a rally in the capital of Balochistan province where he had addressed thousands of people when his car was targeted by a suicide bomber, officials said.
Abdul Razaq Cheema, the city’s police chief, said: “It was a suicide attack. One person has been killed and more than 17 injured. Some of the injured are in critical condition.”

A university professor and former Liberal Party candidate’s defamation lawsuit against pundit Ezra Levant has made it to court six years after it was filed.
On Monday, Edmonton Court of Queen’s Bench Justice Shaina Leonard heard opening arguments in the case of Farhan Chak, who launched a lawsuit against Levant in 2015 over comments Levant made on his Sun News Network program.
