Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he is deeply concerned about scenes of violence in Northern Ireland.
Police were attacked, petrol bombs thrown and a bus set on fire in another night of disorder in Belfast. The way to resolve differences is through dialogue, not violence or criminality, he said.
The disturbances took place on both sides of an interface in the loyalist Shankill and nationalist Springfield Road areas of the city on Wednesday.
Forty-one police officers were injured in disturbances in parts of Northern Ireland over the Easter period, involving children as young as 13.

“The violence witnessed on the streets in recent days is totally unacceptable,” she said following a morning meeting with Police Service of Northern Ireland Chief Constable Simon Byrne.
“Political leaders need to speak with one voice in condemning what is happening and in calling for planned loyalist protests, particularly at interface areas, to be cancelled immediately.”

After shocking scenes provoked calls for calm this week, violence again flared up on the streets of west Belfast, amid rising tensions in the area.
Stones and fireworks were thrown at police by gangs of youths gathered on the nationalist Springfield Road, close to where Wednesday night’s riots took place.

Those involved were warned by police to “disperse immediately or the water cannon will be used”.
