The Delhi High Court has directed jailed separatist leader Yasin Malik to appear virtually before it via video conferencing from Tihar jail in connection with an appeal by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) seeking the death penalty for him in a terror funding case. Malik, who is currently serving a life sentence for several offences, including those under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the IPC, was described as a "very high risk prisoner" in an application by jail authorities who said it was necessary to not physically produce him in court to maintain public order and safety.
