North and south korea engaged in an exchange of artillery fire. South Koreas Defense Ministry says soldiers returned fire after north korea shot a single artillery shell at a border town. The Defense Ministry says it fired dozens of shells at the location of that north koreaen shell. Were also following breaking news out of northwest d. C. Firefighters are battling a fire in the 900 block of butternut street. This is a live look at the scene. No word of any injuries or how that fire started. New this morning, unrest in st. Louis, missouri, after yet another Police Involved shooting. Yesterday, police shot and killed an 18yearold black man after they say he pulled a gun on them. Police say the man was one of two suspects running away from a home where they found crack cocaine. Nine protesters were arrested in the aftermath. Police used tear gas to clear a street after demonstrators ignored commands and threw glass bottles and rocks at the officers. 6 02 now. This is mike hydeck. The raging wild fires in Washington State claimed three lives last night. The initial reports say the firefighters were in mt. Initial attack phase near the town of twisp. Investigators believe that vehicle was most likely overcome by the flames after the accident. Even as the people mourn the loss, the fight goes on because the flames are still marching across the landscape of Washington State. Were trained to do a job and you know, theres just times when, you know, some things go bad, but the fight still has to go on. Wow. The people are going to rebuild and now theres been loss of life. Its like horrible. Now the dry conditions and strong winds are making it very difficult to fight these fires. Right now, more than 100 fires are burning out west. The flames are store sping a d. C. Police putting their money where their mouth is. Not only asking people to come forward with tips to help solve this crime, now they are offering more cash for your information. Police have increased tips to get illegal guns off the street. From 1 ,000 we reported now to 2500. They added a new reward of 10,000 for information leading to the arrest of someone involved in a shooting and of course, 25,000 for murder arrests. Anyone with information can call 7279099. Were told you can also send unanimous tips, text them to 50411. Police are hoping these increased rewards will help skeptical residents come forward. Nobody cares. When time and time again, we have seen instances where police have been the dominant structure. We have to think about what we can do, what individuals can do. What can churches do . The Baltimore Sun reports the latest victim was found dead with a bullet wound in a vacant road house during the pharmacy. So far, there is no word on a motive or suspects. A heartbreaking loss for the High School Community. Long time principal, dr. Michael doran was found dead in his home yesterday. Doran was no ordinary principal. Proof is this makeshift memorial students made in his old parking space. There are flowers and cards and even artwork set up here to honor him. One thing is clear in this community, no one will be able to fill his spot. Doran was found dead yesterday in bethesda in his home. His cause of death is not known. The obvious impact he had on his students is clear. He had an 18 year career here at month phenomenonly county. Its rare for positives to have so many positive things. Typically the person you see when youre in trouble. The principal is so high up, students dont get to spend quality time with them. Principal doran cared about his students. He went out of his way to get to know them, even had lunch with some of them at school. Great conversation, joked around. Didnt matter where you were, if you were an athlete, everyone had a special connection with doran, including myself. Former Montgomery County superintendent, joshua starr, said doran knew almost student by name and even something about them, grief counselors will be here today and tomorrow from 9 00 until 2 00 p. M. There will also be a special vigil to honor doran tomorrow at 6 00 here in the stadium. Now when the news first broke, it spread on social media. Firefighters are battle ago fire in the 900 block of butternut street. He was awoken by someone else in that house who told them there was smoke. When i went up to the second floor to check, i saw the fire. I ran back downstairs and got the fire extinguisher and at that point, i came back and tried to put the fire out. The fire was in the same area as the fuse boxes upstairs. But once the fire canister was empty, there was nothing i could do. No word on injuries or how the fire started. Well keep an eye on this and pass along any new information as soon as we have it. New this morning, another Fatal Police Shooting in missouri and another protest in the streets. Im mike hydeck in the newsroom. It was the st. Louis police who were met by those protesters. As officers tried to clear the street. The officers used tear gas and at one point, a heavily armored s. W. A. T. Unit was there. The initial shooting happened as police were trying to enter a home where drug activity. As they went in, the suspects ran out. Officers in the rear alley ordered them to stop and drop the gun. As they ran, one of the individuals turned and pointed the gun at the officers. An 18yearold black man was killed. Police found crack cocaine and weapons in the home. They made nine arrests during the protests. Continuing our coverage of the violence in d. C. Police are working overtime and soon will be going to an all hands on deck operation to try and get a handle on oth growing situation and troubling trend. Now, they are trying a new tactic. Cash. Yesterday, sanders took the stand in his own defense. Not only did he not touch the woman. He rebuffed her advances. The army is facing a wrongful death lawsuit. The suit was filed by family members of Kristen Hernandez who died from brain cancer about seven years ago. The suit sited ground water contamination from chemicals buried decades ago.
