Reporter grown children still living at home with mom inn dad try to get as much privacy as they can even though family still living close by and homicide detectives here at headquarters now have a case of a son shot and killed real close to his family, while they are awake, just a few feet away, one floor above. So the familys on the first floor watching tv. Close to 8 30 last night in prime time here at their row house on Oxford Street near 60th in West Philadelphia when they hear gunshots coming from their basement. That is when their 27 yearold son lived, kept his basement, bedroom and living area. They see him lying on the couch, lots of bullet shells nearby, shot several times in the chest, family had no clue anyone else was even downstairs visiting him and when they went down to the basement, the killer was already out of the basement and out of the house, to a separate door out back. Family members were upstairs, on the first floor when they heard gunshots from the basement, when they went downstairs to check on their family member, that is when they found him bleeding from the chest and torso and he was completely unresponsive. That is when police were notified. We dont know who was was was in the basement with the victim. Well, police get there right away, they get him to lankanol hospital probably less than two minutes drive away but despite police getting in there so quick the 27 yearold shot point blank so many times in the chest, the surgeons at lankenau had no chance to save his life.
