Now, the guy and the girl were having what Police Describe as allowed argument here on lancaster avenue right off the drexel campus, and we dont know if that involved anything physical many but the guy with the gun ended up shooting the 24 year old three times in the chest and so even with both drexel and philly police getting here real quick after the reports of gunshot, and then rushing him, the quick three block drive right over to penn presbyterian that handles all of the gunshot victims this side every town, those shots turned out to be deadly. The victim along with his 22 year old girlfriends walking down the street, had been engage in the some type of loud argument. We have a male who is armed with a gun and a permit to carry, for some reason, intervenes, into the situation, and at some point pulls his gun and fired three shots into the victim. So the victims 22 year old girlfriends police say lives here, nearby, either on or off campus in the housing you are looking at. She now downtown talking to homicide detective at philly police headquarters. Thomas, karen, homicide likely with consult with the das offers will eventually determine whether the shooting was justified. Obviously if the shooter felt either he or both he and the girls life was in danger at some point, and thats why he fired the gun. But, hes cooperating. The girlfriends cooperating. Reporter well, it happened at 11 35 p. M. Right here in the shadow of the Drexel University highrise Student Housing here on lancaster avenue, right across the street, you will notice, three orange traffic cones, blog ago kim of the meter parking spots, where you see as we move to our video, four chalk circles, three smaller ones that surround three bullet shells, just 10 feet away from the bigger circle, where the 24 year old man shot, fell, and was found by police, who say moments before having that loud argument with his 22 year old girlfriends here, she is a drexel student. Thats when a third man tried to help first, intervening, then for some reason feeling that either his life, the girlfriends life or both lives were in danger, pulled out a gun that he has a permit to carry here, fired three shots, killing the 24 year old man. Still interviewing witnesses and trying to gather as to what happened, what caused these two, these three individuals to come together, and what caused the individuals to fire that gun to fire. Drexel police usually keeps it safe, but you cant really prevent everything, you know, stuff happens. Well, both drexel and philly police got here quick, and instantly rushed this guy to penn presbyterian emergency room just three blocks from here. But even with those very experienced surgeons there, who saved shooting victims almost daily, they could not save him from those three shots fired so close in range, the girlfriend, shooter, and other witnesses, now with homicide detectives at the round house, who will determine with the da later on today, karen, thomas, whether or not this shooting was justified, whether anybodys life was in danger, and there was no other way to handle it. They do tell us they have video of that truck, they have not yet released it. While the search continues for the driver, family, friends, of jess kurtz are trying to come to terms with what happened to her monday night. Police say she and a friend were trying to cross street road after dark, well, before they made it across the road, they were violently hit by the driver after mid nines ford f250, that truck now has damage to its front headlight, also, missing, mirror. The 18 year old male victim who was with her distraut and completely shock by the accident, tells police what happened next. He pulled over.
