Officers met the mother outside. Wilmington police chief robert tracy said the mother had called for someone to come check on her two sons, a baby just a few months old, and a fiveyearold. The children looked like they might have been drowned at this time. We cleared the whole building to make sure for the safety of everyone involved but the children were already deceased before the officers eed the apartment. Reporter the chief says investigators have no idea yet if any body was in the apartment with the mother and her children before police arrived. Quite possibly could be homicide investigation. Reporter the coroner corner at north adams and ninth street all taped off all date. Investigators gathering evidence in and around the first floor apartment at 826 west ninth active scene and disturbing information sweeping through the neighborhood left many neighbors almost speechless. Someone called police to the 1900 block of East Monmouth street right around 2 00 a. M. With reports of a person with a gun now when officers arrived, they found a 56yearold man with gunshot wounds to his face and body. Paramedics pronounced him dead 20 minutes later no suspects and no motive as of yet. The driver who investigators say plowed into a philadelphia sheriffs deputy saturday night now faces charges. Prosecutors charged 32yearold devon harley with aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person. They say two sheriffs deputies were looking for a 14yearold run away from florence township when they spotted her in harleys car on the 3,000 block of seventh street. Authorities say when they told harley to turn off the car, he took off hitting one of those deputies. They found harley and the car a few blocks away. By then the girl had taken off. They still havent found her. A southwest philadelphia man who always loved taking walks has died after a hitandrun. He walked with the help of a cane twice a day to a local park but when he crossed 67th street last night, it was the last time. Federal corruption charges against new jersey senator bob menendez stand the presiding district judge ruled today to not dismiss them. The defense item was hoping district judge William Walls will dismiss charges after six weeks of cross examination. The attorneys were arguing that the allegations do not meet the definition of bribery after a 2,006 Supreme Court case that basically said bribes have to be targeting a specific matter or action. Prosecutors accuse menendez of setting up a quote stream of benefits operation with a friend and that the bribes involved, washington not meant to prompt one specific act or another. Menendez, however, maintains he bribed no one. The judge handling Jerry Sanduskys appeal will soon announce if the charges will be thrown out or if he gets a new trial.
