In an exclusive report right here on fox5 there are new allegations of bullying harassment and hazing involving the Cheerleading Squad at a Prince Georges County high school. Parents at Charles Flowers High School contacted fox5 alleging that several coaches have mistreated the girls on one of the cheer teams. Our annie yu live in the news room this morning with more on this story. Whats going on here, annie . Reporter holly and wisdom, these are serious and very disturbing allegations from a group of at least a half a dozen parents. Fox5 has confirmed the Prince Georges County School District has launched an investigation and the principal is also meeting with the parents to address their concerns. Now, in a six page letter to School Administration and schools ceo dr. Kevin maxwell parents basically outlined allegations of the cheer coaches at charles h Flowers High School calling students profane names, mismanagement of program fees and their exercise to the point of absolute exhaustion. And sent along with this letter were statements from their daughters who said they are treated very badly and that coaches would always curse. Parents say they want the coaches replaced a full refund of fees theyve paid as well as a guarantee that their daughters can cheer and be protected. Parents did not speak to us on the record in fear of retaliation aimed at their daughters but they did choose Community Activist and Maryland State Senate candidate Everett Browning to speak on their behalf. We all understand tough love, understand coaching but calling a young lady who come from a Cheerleading Team constantly calling her a bleep other words to her face calling her dumb, stupid and telling her that shes not good enough to be a part of the program is unacceptable. Pushing some of these young ladies past the point of exhaustion where theyre throwing up, physically sick and ill and theyre threatened not to tell their parents about it because if they do theyre threatened to be thrown off the team.
