Fire Officials Say their first call came in just before 7 00 p. M. Thursday and fire crews arrived with therein three minutes. Fire started on the first floor quickly spread upstairs. They started to get on the fire escape already trying to get down on their own. Thats how fast it was moving. At least 12 people were rescued. And will survive. Facing temperatures in the teens and wind chill making it feel like below zero, by around 10 00 p. M. , more than 160 firefighters had the fire under control. Feels like its too much right now. Overwhelming. People carried out of there. I just, its overwhelming. Excluding september 11th, this marks the worst new York City Fire in more than 25 years. Where police are trying to identify a body found inside of a burning car. This happened last night on ridge road southeast. Witnesses say they heard gunfire shortly before the car burst into flames. Police say they havent been able to identify the body found inside this burning car, but neighbors tell us that this is definitely leaving them on edge, very unsettled because if you look behind me this literally happened in an alley way right between a row of homes here along ridge road and g street in southeast. Now, inside the car, police found a body and its not clear whether the body is a man or a woman. We want to show you some video that we got from a fox5 viewer from last night and you can really see those huge flames just lighting up the alley near the homes there. Neighbors tell us they heard a loud blast of gunfire just after 7 30 followed by an explosion and that is when they saw the big flames engulfing the car. The viewer who sent us this video says she was here visiting her family, she was inside with her children and grandchildren when it happened. Sound like big gunshots, like four, five gunshots and then a big explosion. We all hit the floor for a moment. Then my son ventured out and it was a car in the alley exploding. Reporter but it wasnt a car that they recognized from the neighborhood . No, not at all. Reporter so, d. C. Police still investigating and theyre still working to identify the body found inside the burning car. They tell us that the vehicle was obviously very charred and its hollowed but they were able to make out the model. Around 9 30 last night they responded to a serious crash on brink road in germantown after a car went into a fence. Youre looking at the photos from the scene. Two people were taken at the hospital with serious injuries. One of those victims is fighting for their life. No word on what caused that crash. Also Montgomery County fire crews were called to a two alarm fire in aspen hill last night. The fire started in the lower floor of an Apartment Building and we are told that dozens of people have been evacuated from the Apartment Building. It is along georgia avenue. Firefighters say about six to eight units were affected. Right now theres no word on any injuries. Charges pending this morning against a man accused of shooting and killing his wife in fredericksburg, virginia. Police say the man then led authorities on a high speed chase even shooting at police as they attempted to pull him over. Were told those bullets narrowly missed two officers. That chase ended on i95 where the suspects vehicle crashed into a guardrail and flipped over. Police found him with a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head. They say he is now in critical condition. No word on a motive. Want to take you to Prince Georges County now where a man has died after shooting along i295. He was found just before 6 30 last night on the side of the road near route 50. Investigators tell us he was shot in the upper body. Traffic was backed up in both directions. The victim has not been identified. Police are still looking for a suspect. And in the district, Metro Transit Police pardon me are investigating a stabbing at the nomagallaudet station. And 21yearold elijah henry on december 27th 2017. Police say that same. 40 caliber pistol was used in all three shootings. Now, sydnor, the an mpd sergeant was headed to a family members wedding at the time when she was shot by the accused here. Tax revenues, make the budget look a lot better everything is coming together the way the president campaigned on it as long as we keep going as long as the tax reduction we had the end of the this year im optimistic about 18. Mike you put economy near the top of the list. Albe, for democrats in 2017. Women, women. Without a doubt. I learned a lesson a long time ago growing up pick the battles with the women in my life if you look at the numbers today, republicans are in the water, and very deep, and i dont see how they reverse that trend. I think, um, we have close to 300 women running for congress as democrats. That is a remarkable number. And if you i wouldnt discount the fact that we could have an equal number of women in the democratic caulk cuss if not more so than men come 2019 when we swear them all in again. Republicans of cognizant of them. Im hearing more saying we need to change this tied don more to bring women into the fold. Do you think thats the linchpin democrats have an advantage in that regard with women being more perhaps friendly to the democratic platform than to the republican platform . Its one of their advantages today. Its been one of their advantages for years actually. But the advantage is not s overcome with other voter demographics. I think republicans are going to leverage the advantages we have with women right now. Lets face it. Lets look at the whole sex harass many thing. 95 of this problem is from liberal progressives not from the conservative republicans. So when they want to come after us and use this as a scandal against us, i think its going to fall flat. I think were going to have a lot of success in reversing it flipping it over on them, and i dont think women is going to be this huge demographic advantage for them the way theyre hoping its going to be going into 18 elections. Lets talk about the Sexual Harassment that has dominator the headlines on the hill as of recently. We saw this everywhere from at the polls when it came to roy moore a lot of people pointing toward that and sitting lawmakers who were losing their seats. Do you think well see more of this in 2018 . I do. But theres a contrast here. Youre seeing democrats who have been accused of and right or wrong theyre stepping down. Look at al franken. He bid farewell to his constituents last night look at blake in texas hes going to i think retire at the end of the year, not seek reelect. And the list goes on. We have a president who has several accuser whos i think need to be heard. I agree with ambassador hail lee that these women ought to be heard havent their day when they get to explain these allegations. When you have obvious thely sexual are a many issue is huge and Neither Party can escape it. When you have some are now say the momentum on President Trumps side the legislative victory witness tax reform, economy doing very well, dee feast isis, things of that nature, do you think that the people people will start loolooking at instead and saying these are the successes, i dont want to look back and talk about Sexual Harassment when im seeing other things working in my life in america. People usually vote their pocketbook and with the economy going well, that augers very well fort republicans and President Trump in the coming year. One of the least told stories i think was in the beginning of the year the Republican Party you had the liberty caw corks the freedom President Trump criticizing republicans over the course of the year, the Freedom Caucus has learned that theyre part of the team, theyre not against the team, the president has learned he does better when he criticizes democrats and not republicans. Thats what brought the whole tax reform thing together and i think thats going to carry the legislative agenda no 18 and towards the lex. I think weve matured as party and working better together. I think both parties have come together more. I think republicans are more united as you say. I think democrats are united against republicans and against the administration right now. Mike, let me ask you this question. When it comes to things like we mentioned russia, you could look at this two ways. This is something that has been in the headlines for all of 2017 yet the shoes have not dropped so there have not been any major revelations that come here that could damage things in such instrument hem way but at the same time it has month of 2017 it will continue into 2018. Is that one of the headlines that will continue through the next year . Regrettablely i think it w will. As long as director mueller is the special prosecutor then were going to see t week. Theres nothing you can do about that. I think it is significant as you noted that weve been through a full year of this, and weve just weve had nothing to quote one of your guys i forget his name that big nothing bu burger. But you know well see where it goes. Theres obviously some ancillary things that mueller is going to discover, and those are going to be damaging, but as far as the campaign and collusion with russia is concerned, i think we got nothing here. New york city hit with deed lee yesterday fire in decades with wind fueled flames ripping through fivestory Apartment Building in the bronx. Built back in 1916. This is the worst fire tragedy we have seen in this century. People were screaming fire, help, fire, help we knew it was trouble. Its horrible to report 12 are dead already. We may lose others as well. Among the dead oneyearold child. Others injured were left fighting for their lives. In a depth thats certainly no stranger to tragedy, were shock by this loss. People died on various floors. Fire Officials Say their first call came in just before 7 00 p. M. Thursday and fire crews arrived within three minutes. Police announced the arrest of 18yearold James Mayfield involved in three separate homicides. Now keep in mind, mayfield has been on the run since october. So for dc police, this arrest comes as a major victory for them. Now mayfield is charged in the murders of 17yearold jamarhi sydnor on august 10th 2017. 38yearold Jermaine Bowens on december 6th, 2017 and 21yearold elijah henry on december 27th, 2017. Now, police say the same 40 caliber pistol was used in all shootings. Sydnor the daughter of an mp sergeant was head to do family members wedding when she was struck by a bullet back in august. Now as you can imagine its been a painful time for all the families involved who have lost a loved one to these acts of violence. Completely disgusted. You know, he killed my baby. Chance, charges are pending this morning against a man accused of shooting and killing his wife in fredericksburg, savage the man then led authorities on high speed chase even shooting at police as they attempted to pull him over. Were told the bullets nearly missed two officers. That chase ended on i95 when the suspect vehicle crashed into guardrail and then flipped. Trooper Anthony Wallace says he pulls over every driver he witnesses appeared to be impaired because at the epidemic of the day it is about saving lives.
