They were like three reindeer, like were done for the night and now were going to go on with the rest of our journi. Thought it was a great sign of Christmas Morning. It was beautiful. Look at the snows flying west of new york city this morning and then the lake effect snows kicking newspaper upstate new york and parts kicking up intoup s maybe if youre in the mountains youll encounter a flurry. Hey everybody its Kevin Mccarthy with your Movie Reviews for the weekend. Jumanji welcome to the jungle. The film serves as a sequel not a remake to the classic jumanji films. It pays homage to Robin Williams. The first was my favorite movies of all time. The new film starring dwayne the rock Johnson Kevin hart jack black karen gillen is a different take on the that exists in the same universe which is why it serves more as a sequel to that because they refer back to Robin Williams character. The film opens with four teenagers in detention who find an old video game console with the game jumanji. While playing the four teens get sucked into the game and become the avatars of the characters they were playing in the game. And this creates a lot of comedy considering jack blacks character is actually a teenaged girl. Jack black steals the entire film. The chemistry is great and the concept is very clever can especially if youre a video game fan. The rock is fantastic in the role and karen gillen is great as well. Oddly enough the weakest performance in the movie was kevin hart. The film was a bit too long at times but it definitely is entertaining and something worth seeing in theaters i gave 83. 5 out of five. Worth seeing. Next up is Steven Spielbergs movie the post which tells the timely true story of the Washington Post publishing the pentagon papers in the early 70s. Tom hanks and meryl s and spielberg began shooting this movie at the end of may of this year and now its now coming out. Its incredible the timeliness of this film as well as how he did his signature style and quality in that short of a period of time. The film is masterfully shot on 35millimeter film and balances out where you seen find yourself wondering whats going to happen at the end even though you already know that the Washington Post published these papers. That is the key to a great storyteller. You get so suspended in disbelief when youre watching a film you forget what you already know about the story. Thats amazing. I gave the movie a 4. 5 out of 51 of the best and most important films of 2017. Next up is the greatest show man starring hugh jackman about pt barnum. The bottom line here is the music is better than the film overall. The music and the soundtrack i found to be a better quality element than the movie itself. And the film is one of the best sound tracks ive heard in years. All of the performances are amazing. Amazing. I just felt the films pacing was off and way too rushed in the beginning. I didnt find myself focused on a particular story line. Also the lip sync for the songs pulled me out of the movie at times. I gave 83 out of five. Great soundtrack. Decent film. Also i saw Pitch Perfect three. I liked it but didnt love it. The first one is still the best. But i enjoyed spending time with these characters again. The third film though i felt was a little bit unnecessary. If you want to spend time with these characters youll find it to be a decent film just not a great film. The first one is still the best. Two virginia sheriffs deputies recovering this morning after they were shot while responding to a domestic incident in northern virginia. Well have an update on their condition.
