What do we know about this plan, megan . Reporter its an interesting concept that would give money back to people. If metro makes you late, you would get a refund. Sound like a good idea . The metro is looking at a proposal to look at later on today. It would put money back in your pocket if the trains are running late. Under only certain circumstances, though. Lets take a look at the circumstances, the specifics here. The refund would be for delays of 15 minutes or more and were talking about weekday rush hour periods only. Now the fare would be credited back to you. On your smart trip card or whateer money would be put back on there. Now, if it is approved by the board, this could take effect at the end of the month. So metro taking a look at some creative ways to lure people back because theyre actually losing riders. About 100,000 trips per week day have been lost here. Theyre trying to get people to come back and ride the rails. Theyre hoping this does that. Keep in mind, that since the Safetrack Program ended, the trains are more reliable. Nine out of ten trains are running on time. Only. 5 of rides are 15 minutes or more late. How many people would actually see this refund remains to be seen.
