Thousands of people woke up to darkened homes in parts of the district thanks to power lines brought down by falling trees and branches. News 4 is on the scene of a twoalarm fire in alexandria, virginia. You can see the flames pouring oust a building on mount vernon highway. This is near the intersections with route 1 and buckman road. The first call to 911 came in just before 9 30 tonight. Fairfax county firefighters say this is an antique store, its an old building and parts of it collapsed. There are no reports that anyone is hurt. Our crew on the scene says most of the fire is out now. Avoid mount vernon highway near route 1 for the next few hours. Two Loudoun County sheriffs deputies are in the hospital after being shot. The man accused of shooting them is in jail. Douglas johnson jr. Is being held without bond on two counts of attempted capital murder. The deputies were responding to a domestic call on Hollow Mountain place on Christmas Eve. As they were trying to arrest johnson, he made a sudden move. One officer tased johnson. Johnson allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the deputies. A third deputy helped handcuff johnson. The deputies who were shot are expected to survive. Reporter david fogle lives in Silver Spring with his wife and two young sons. When he tested positive for the gene mutation last year at age 40, he knew he had to do something. He had watched his beloved aunt die from stomach cancer. Going through that with her with my family, i knew if there was a way to nip that in the bud and not have to deal with it it it was a bit of a nobrainer decision. Reporter through research he found out about the Clinical Trial at nih and reached out to dr. Davis, who agreed to perform a complete gastrectomy and accept him into the Clinical Trial.
