They were on board a United Airlines flight, going from puerto rico to dulles. Reuters reports two flight attendants were hurt. Right now there are several online petitions asking for the removal of the name Jefferson Davis from route 1 in Northern Virginia. The united daughters of confederacy asked the highway be named in the honor of the confederate deal. It runs through arlington, alexandria and fairfax. We just learned Joaquin Guzman known as El Chapo Escaped through an elaborate tunnel in his cell. Mexican Security Officials say the tunnel was more than 1,500 meters long. It had ventilation and stairs. On the other end officials found a motorcycle what thb used that had been used to remove dirt. This is guzmans second prison escape. In 2001, the leader of the Notorious Sinaloa Cartel broke out of a maximum security facility as well with the help of guards. He was recaptured last year. A manhunt underway for the father of a missing 6monthold baby. Police in Northern California called the man a person of interest last week and they believe hes armed with a stolen gun. The man is a convicted felon. And also in california, some incredible video. Police now looking for whoever was driving this car. Youll notice the car is going the wrong way. Someone drove this car backwards down this winding road. This is near los angeles. The driver did this for more than two miles without running into anyone or anything. Police now checking the cars license plate to try to find that owner. Dangerous. New details on a blast that knocked a beach goer to the ground in rhode island. It seems like it will hold that way f new this morning a rhode island beach is going to reopen after an explosion that sent a woman to the hospital. This happened in narragansett, rhode island, yesterday. The woman was sitting on the beach near the water when this was a loud boom. She was catapulted six weeks into the air. And authorities searched the beach and didnt find any kind of explosive device. They say theres no further threat to other beachgoers. Looking at the week ahead. Starting tomorrow, crews will close lanes on i66 between route 29 in gainesville and in haymarket. Crews will set new steel beams for the new old carolina bridge. They will rebuild the overpass. More than four miles of this of 66 through haymarket will be widened. The 73. 5 million project is expected to be completed august of next year. Well this morning a man and his dog are safe after the coast guard rescued them from the gulf of mexico. Pretty dramatic here. They were sailing from new orleans to tampa. Here they are after the rescue. Their boat became disabled and went adrift for three days. And then the boat contact fire. While they boat got into the dinghy and the man sent out a distress call. There was a lot of smoke. Not much left of the boat. When i saw the smoke i knew that we found what we were looking for. So that actually made it easier. You know . So we were about ten nautical miles away when i started to see the smoke in the distance. Well the boater said he did take in some smoke before getting off the sailboat. Rescuers found him clinging to his dog. Amazing they made it through that. Yeah. People dont realize when youre visiting the gulf, the water is very, very warm. Mid to upper 80s and thats great. But if youre in the water long enough, hypothermia is a real problem because you cant get your core temperature down that low. Dangerous stuff. Hes a lucky guy for sure. And the dog. Removal of the Confederate Flag from the South Carolina state house has evoked strong emotions. It continues over whether its a symbol of hate or heritage. Nbcs Curtis Mcleod spoke with one group in virginia who says its a symbol of their southern heritage. We wanted to talk about the scalping problem that hasnt gone away but a spokesperson said we are unable to accommodate your request. I mean, i see cop cars there. Multiple scalpers told the iteam police normally will not do anything as long as they dont make the sale right in front of them. They know were out here, the police. Got to be the police.
